Legal Positioning

Harborly is designed to connect individuals and families with trusted, independent carers — while maintaining clear boundaries in responsibility, service delivery, and legal structure.

Clarity. Transparency. Trust.

Harborly is a modern digital platform designed to connect individuals and families with independent, self-employed carers and support professionals.

We are committed to providing a transparent, structured environment where users can confidently find and arrange support  while maintaining full control and flexibility over their choices.

Our role is limited to:

  • Enabling discovery and matching
  • Providing secure booking and payment systems
  • Supporting communication between users

Our Role as a Platform

Harborly operates strictly as an introductory marketplace platform.

This means we:

:Operates as an independent professional

  • Provide a space where carers can create profiles and offer services
  • Enable users to search, filter, and compare carers
  • Facilitate connections between clients and carers
  • Support the booking and payment process

Harborly does not control:

  • How services are delivered
  • Working methods
  • Client-care agreements

Our role is limited to enabling connections  not delivering services.

Independent Carers

All carers listed on Harborly operate as independent, self-employed professionals.

Each carer:

  • Sets their own pricing and hourly rates
  • Defines their own availability
  • Chooses which clients they wish to work with
  • Is fully responsible for the services they provide

Harborly does not exercise control over how carers deliver their services, nor do we act as an employer, agency, or managed service provider.

Nature of the Relationship

When a booking is made through Harborly:

  • A direct agreement is formed between the client and the carer
  • Harborly is not a party to the service agreement
  • All terms relating to care, conduct, and delivery are agreed independently

This structure ensures flexibility, but also means responsibility for the service lies with the individuals involved.

Service Responsibility & Limitations

Harborly does not provide or oversee care services.

We are not responsible for:

  • The quality or outcome of care provided
  • Clinical or medical decisions
  • Day-to-day service delivery
  • Actions or conduct of carers

Users are responsible for assessing suitability and making informed decisions before engaging with a carer.

Verification & Platform Safeguards

While Harborly does not act as a care provider, we take steps to support safer connections across the platform.

These include:

  • Identity verification processes
  • Documentation checks (including DBS where applicable)
  • Profile review before approval
  • Secure payment handling
  • Reporting and escalation systems

These measures are designed to enhance trust — but they do not replace personal judgement or due diligence.

Payments & Transactions

Harborly facilitates payments through a secure third-party payment provider.

  • Payments are made upfront at the time of booking
  • A platform service fee is applied
  • The remaining amount is paid to the carer

Harborly does not act as a financial intermediary beyond facilitating secure transactions.

Risk Awareness & User Responsibility

Using a marketplace platform involves a level of personal responsibility.

Users should:

  • Review profiles carefully
  • Communicate expectations clearly
  • Ask relevant questions before booking
  • Ensure the selected carer meets their needs

Harborly provides the tools — but decisions remain with the user.

Platform Commitment

Harborly is built on three core principles:

Transparency

We clearly communicate how the platform works and where responsibilities lie.

Trust

We implement verification processes and safety features to support user confidence.

Control

We empower users to choose, connect, and manage their own support arrangements.
